Description
The MLX90614 is an infrared thermometer designed for non-contact temperature measurements of objects and ambient surfaces. It integrates an IR-sensitive thermopile detector and a signal-conditioning ASIC within a TO-39 metal package, including a low-noise amplifier, 17-bit ADC, and onboard DSP to deliver high accuracy and resolution. This breakout board version allows simple interfacing with microcontrollers using the I2C protocol and operates from a 3 V to 5 V supply. It is well suited for embedded systems, automation, and thermal monitoring applications requiring contactless sensing. Features • Non-contact infrared temperature measurement • Integrated thermopile sensor and signal-conditioning ASIC • 17-bit ADC with onboard DSP processing • I2C digital communication protocol • Wide object temperature sensing range • Measures both object and ambient temperature • Low operating current consumption • 3 V to 5 V supply voltage compatibility • Compact breakout board design • Factory calibrated for accurate readings Bracket for MLX90614 Tutorials • Tutorial from Adafruit • MLX90614 Non-contact Infrared Temperature Sensor with Arduino. • How to Connect MLX90614 Infrared Thermometer to Raspberry Pi Pico W: MicroPython Tutorial!
